Who We are

Note: this is a holding site for what will soon become a comprehensive digital news & entertainment platform uniquely operated by citizen journalists.

Mass media has become immensely self-concerned and self-serving.  The personal stories of journalists involved with Hundred Eighty Degrees are not important, but we hope that the stories we share here forward very much are.  Enough said.

We wear many different hats.  Some are colorful, others studious.  Identify the unusual or unexpected.  Research to the depths.  Present investigations and content with as much clarity as possible.  Inject humor and humanity wherever appropriate.  And never let danger dicate the rules.  We also connect the dots so that readers understand how our findings affect their lives.

Hundred Eighty Degrees is currently self-supported.  However, we want and need to grow.  We welcome inquiries from appropriate funding sources seeking to support this mission.

As far as I’m concerned, it’s a damned shame that a field as potentially dynamic and vital as journalism should be overrun with dullards, bums, and hacks, hag-ridden with myopia, apathy, and complacence, and generally stuck in a bog of stagnant mediocrity.
— Hunter S. Thompson

Hundred Eighty Degrees is a citizen journalism project.  For now, it publishes content without schedule or funding.  Any and all stories are those with a social justice bent and a fierce loathing of mass media infotainers.  Story views are solely those of Hundred Eighty Degrees, however, we invite all ilk to participate before, during or after the development and distribution of said content.  We crowdsource the truth.

Why Hundred Eighty Degrees?  This platform is and will be a hearty denial of fourth estate gatekeepers who believe that one must have a big media brand emblazoned on a business card in order to be deemed a "journalist."  We are fully aware that we are neither heroic nor exceptional.   There are countless souls who are far more accomplished in carrying out critical investigative work here in America.  We simply wish to conduct our news-gathering our way and based on a platform from which facts matter and egos don't.   It's high time that corporate "news" nonsense disintegrates to dust enabling that which matters to ascend through unsavory ashes.
