TWO DOGS DROWN IN dan price POOL only eight months apart, PRICE WAS PRESENT

According to multiple sources, two dogs inexplicably drowned in Dan Price’s pool within an eight month period.

One source told Hundred Eighty Degrees that a beloved 4-year-old Chow named Winston apparently drowned in Price’s pool on November 22, 2019. Circumstances surrounding the dog’s death remain unclear.

Hundred Eighty Degrees has reached out to a member of the family who owned the dog and could verify the circumstances. She may have been dating Price at the time. The family owns Seattle’s critically acclaimed Ba Bar and operates the Saigon Siblings Restaurant Group.

Price’s dog Mikey drowned in his pool during June of 2020, according to another source close to the matter. Also on the condition of anonymity, the source said, “He [Price] is the reason his dog is dead, but he doesn't want to believe that. Dan ignored his dog's basic needs for food and water once COVID lockdown happened.”

Price shared an Instagram post after Mikey drowned on June 24 of 2020 in which he said, “You [Mikey] inspired countless others to adopt dogs,” implying that he and Mikey were somehow pet adoption influencers, despite the fact that COVID-19 itself had an unprecedented impact on pet adoption.

Price frequently shares photos, videos and social posts inclusive of his dogs, publicly presenting himself as an adoring dog owner. However, multiple sources said that he privately neglects their needs.

“He was not very attached to the puppy at all,” said a source who spent considerable time with Price.

He allegedly leverages these dogs, not only as a public relations tool, but as a means to woo or control survivors of his abuse. “[The dog’s] death was constantly used against me. Dan blamed me for not paying attention.”

Another source said, “He compared me to his dog Samantha, saying that he needed to keep me on a short leash.”

Thousands of unleashed pets drown in swimming pools and open water each year. Multiple fatal drownings in the same pool in less than eight months, however, is rare, even for young children who fatally and non-fatally drown at shocking rates.

Washington state amended building codes in 2007 to require proper drowning prevention barriers, including fencing and alarms. According to a source familiar with Price’s property, he does not have a pool fence or pool alarms. Perimeter fencing is often an inadequate prevention measure.

It remains unclear if Price has installed proper drowning prevention measures as required by state law or local ordinance.

The same rules apply to pet owners as they do to parents. Establish multiple barriers of protection and never leave pets or children unsupervised around water, regardless of whether they can swim or if the water is shallow.

This is a developing story.
